Liminal Stages
Robert Maloney
In his multilayered installations, Maloney utilizes the vocabulary of the urban landscape as a framework for fragmented thoughts and ideas to be suspended onto. He is interested in the way that our memories and experiences accumulate and decline over time and how this retention of data affects each one of us in very different ways. In this body of work, time lapse ink portraits accumulate and dissolve into the layers of architectural detritus. We struggle to make out the features embedded in the surfaces the same way that we excavate the memories of the individuals and dwellings of our past.
