Connection Through Projection
MetaMovements, Lady Elizabeth Pabon
With the recent uncertainty of legal individual travel to Cuba from the U.S. given President Trump's policy on Cuba travel, MetaMovements wants to bring a part of Cuba to Illuminus Boston through audience engagement and projection. The project entitled "Connection Through Projection" will provide viewers with a glimpse of Cuba through video and dancers in Cuba will lead Timba lines fusing cuban dance styles like salsa, casino, afro-cuban, son, cuban contemporary and more for Illuminus participants to follow. The goal is to get people moving together on the streets of Boston like they do in Havana, Cuba.
This project is part of our Cubanizate! program in Boston as part of MetaMovements' Cultural Connections Travel Programs. Cubanizate! is one-of-a-kind program in which dancers from Cuba & the US train simultaneously-- opening the doors for cultural exchange and community-building across borders in a way that’s never happened before. Students and instructors in both countries share their knowledge and culture, providing exceptional learning opportunities for all involved. Join us at Illumnus Boston to support Cuban artists in their goal of connecting with the rest of the world in a way they have not been able to in the past!
